SENIOR EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES

  • Provide Mrs. Ludwig with the Weekly Schedule Form of when you will be at your internship site. TWO work shifts must be during school time.  Your schedules are due (in Mrs. Ludwig’s Media Center Office inbasket) before the end of homeroom every Monday morning.  Mrs. Ludwig prepares her weekly schedule based on your weekly schedule, so if Mrs. Ludwig visits your internship site based upon the schedule you provided, and you are not there, you will receive a zero for your visitation grade

So, always inform your mentor and Mrs. Ludwig (preferably by email) if you are absent.

  • Occasionally you will receive email updates from Mrs. Ludwig.  Please read these emails carefully.  If you have any change to your email address, please be sure my records are updated.

  • Be 100% dependable at your internship.  Be on time (visitation grading is as follows:  100%=on time, 90%=1-5 min. late, 80%=6-10 min. late, 70%=11-15 min. late, 50% for more than 15 min. late).  Dress appropriately for your workplace.  Use the highest standard of manners and appropriate language at all times.  Abide by the rules of your job site, and work cooperatively with the other staff members. Always use good judgment - if you are not sure what to do . . . ask!

  • Keep an accurate record of the hours you are at the internship site. Record and submit them on the appropriate forms and at the appropriate times.

  • Maintain a total of at least 8 hours per week for 5 credits and 16 hours per week for 10 credits. Failure to do so will constitute not meeting the proficiency for this course.

  • Please be aware that unless your internship is in this building, you are required to leave the high school after block two (for ten credit students) or after block three (for five credit students).  A yellow ID card is available to insure your authorized exit from the building.

  • A typed journal entry must be submitted before the end of homeroom on the dates indicated on the monthly calendar.  Please refer to the journal grading handout, and remember that responses to the journal questions should be grammatically correct, thoughtful, and honest.  Be sure you are sharing your learning experience with Mrs. Ludwig!

  • Assignments and due dates are indicated on a monthly calendar.  Please note that any assignment not submitted on the due date will result in a zero . . . period.  You do not have any quizzes, tests, or midterms in Senior Experience, so it is of the utmost importance that you are diligent about completing your assignments on time for maximum credit.

  • Contact Mrs. Ludwig IMMEDIATELY if you are uncomfortable with ANY situation that may arise at your internship.  Remember, you cannot quit in the middle of the semester.
